PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

JULY 2009

I am happy to announce that we have a full board again! Our new board members are Marge Johnson and Kathy Hickson. I would like to thank them for stepping up. We, the board, are trying it’s best to keep our club going and we appreciate all the support that we can get!
Our dance and tumbling classes are going really well! We also have an adult hip/hop class that has helped grow our membership. All classes are open to any of our members, so please come out on Friday evening and check it out!
WE HAD A RECITAL, FRIDAY, JUNE 5TH. THE KIDS REALLY WORKED HARD; IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO SEE EVERYONE THERE! They will be performing at Sommerfest on July 18th.
We had a booth at the Belton Community Days, June 18th - 20th, and our dancers & tumblers marched in the parade, what a great group of kids. We will need volunteers for our Sommerfest celebration on July 18th. To make this a success, please mark this day on your calendar and come support our efforts.

All help, suggestions, etc. are welcome!

Thank you
Jan

Dance & Tumbling Update

June 5th marked this year’s first recital for the “KC Turner's Shining Stars”.  “A Star is Born” was the title of the program and let me tell you, there were certainly a lot of stars born that night.  The Tiny Tots started the evening off with a ballet number “Mr. Sandman,”  all the audience could do was clap and say aauugghh!  Then the Tweens showed off their tumbling skills to “Hey Mickey,” for beginners they sure looked amazing.  Then the show stopper was the Tiny Tots Tap routine to “Codfish Ball” featuring Sydney Gray.  All I have to say is CUTE.  Let’s not leave the newly formed Adult Hip Hop class out, they performed a number to “Step Up,” there was some calories burned that night, anyone looking for a workout needs to come up and check this out.  The Tweens did a little Tappin’ for the crowd to “S hake, Rattle and Roll,” that got the audience going.  Then the Tiny Tots finished out their evening with some basic tumbling to “Ducks Dance” and that they do.  The Tweens final performance of the evening was to a oldie “Grease” the kids gave the audience a brief rendition of the movie with their dance moves.  But the final performance of the evening was the best, and not on the program, the Shining Stars always end their practices with a little “Cha Cha Slide” so each dancer went to the audience to grab as many participants as they could.  They filled the dance floor front to back and side to side for the “Cha Cha Slide” it was a truly amazing sight.  Pictures are available at: www.kcturners.org/dancephoto.html  The Shining Stars also danced in the Community Days Parade Saturday morning June 20th and handed out candy and information on the program to hundreds of people.  They enjoyed the parade and can’t wait to dance in future parades.  Check them out at this year's Sommerfest July 18th 1 - 11 P.M., they will be bringing the sun, beach and surf to the clubhouse.  The programs are still expanding so if you or someone you know wants to try the program please come up on a Friday and see how much fun we have or contact Jaime Michaelree for more information, 816-878-3232 or jtazdevil@aol.com.  Tiny Tots & Tweens Dance and Tumble from 6:30 to 8:30 and our Adult Hip Hop is from 8:30 to 9:30.  See you at the club!

Jaime
